Ice Skating and Book Club Fun!

Ice Skating, Advent, Book Club, Greek and Latin roots oh my!

Did you know that you can go ice skating in Florida’s Space Coast?  You can, and you can do it  anytime of the year at the Space Coast Iceplex in Rockledge, FL!  We  went with our homeschool group and had a blast! The rink was all decked out with holiday decorations, Christmas music was playing in the background and green and red lights danced around our skates as we slid across the ice.  One of the things I love about this rink is that in addition to the friendly staff, they provide walker rentals for those in need of a little help out on the rink.  My youngest took full advantage of his walker and I know it saved him from a whole lot of bumps and bruises.

We continued our Truth in the Tinsel Advent study last week.  My boys are loving it! If I’m one minute late in starting they let me know!

Here are their creations.

We are part of a book club that meets once a month.  It’s hard for me to read to my children as I’m just not that into it, so I’m thankful to our book club for keeping me accountable and encouraging me to read with my boys.  Last week we discussed the first five chapters of Rush Revere and the First Patriots.  This is the second Rush Revere book  that we’ve read and both myself and my boys are really enjoying it. We have had so much fun learning American history through the eyes of Rush Revere, Liberty, Tommy, Freedom and the gang.  Last week I lead the discussion for our club and here are a few discussion questions for chapters 1-5 of Rush Revere and the First Patriots.

Last week my boys really enjoyed their WordUp! lesson.  My youngest wanted to write out the words that went along with the Latin section and my oldest asked to play the word games that followed the lesson.

I must say we had a pretty fun week!
